Happy new year! We trust you had some good quality time with your bike over the break.
Summer is well and truly upon us, and with it - race season. It kicks off for 2015 this weekend with MTBNZ Cup race on Mt Victoria followed by the highly anticipated Mt Crawford Mini Enduro on Wellington Anniversary Day. Details below of these and other forthcoming races.

MTBNZ Cup Series - Sunday 18th January, Mt Victoria

The MTBNZ Cup comes to Wellington tomorrow with XC Round 2 on Mt Victoria. In true Mt Victoria style, the course presents plenty of technical challenges for riders and will undoubtedly be a good one to watch. Racing starts at 10am.

Kids Mini Enduro Preride with WORD - 9am Sunday 18th January, Miramar


For the young ones and their families. You’re invited to come preride the Miramar Mini Enduro course with WORD this Sunday.

If you want to check out the course and see if it’s for you - meet Ash and Russ from WORD at the prison at 9am tomorrow for a run down the course. No registration necessary.

Escape from Mt Crawford Mini Enduro - Monday 19th January, Miramar


The annual fundraiser for the Miramar Track Project is back for its fourth year. This is the place to be on Wellington Anniversary Day, Monday 19th January.

As always there will be the Felony (hard out) and Misdemeanour (cruiser) divisions. This year there will be new stage combinations to get your head around. Also on the cards is a Mini Enduro for the kids. And as always, all proceeds go straight back into track maintenance and ecological restoration by the MTP in the Centennial Reserve.

Klunkers, Chainless & Kids Bike Dual Slalom - Saturday 24th January 12pm, Miramar


After a hugely successful event last year - Klunkers is back! Easy-going racing at the Miramar Track Project, generating bikes, parts and cash for charity. With Klunkers, Chainless and 'proKlunkers' categories, and also a kids bike dual slalom. 2 ½ hours of live timing, fastest run down Jailbrake counts.

Entry by donation of old (useful) parts, cash, or your bike. All bikes, parts and money go to Biketech and the Mechanical Tempest, helping others to get on a bike. There will be sounds, a BBQ and beer on hand, so dig out your old kit and 90's race weapon for some fun racing.

Dirt Merchants 476 Enduro - Sunday 1st March, Polhill Reserve


Kicking off March, Dirt Merchants will host the 476 Enduro. Expect 3 timed stages and some fancy dress. Proceeds from the event will go to the Brooklyn Trail Builders, supporting trail building in the Polhill Reserve.

Revolve Super V - Saturday 14 March, Polhill Reserve


The Revolve Super V is back!

This year, the annual women’s race will kick off with a shuttle to the top of Barking Emu before an approximately 30-45min ride down the Polhill tracks, including Carparts Extension, Carparts, Roller Coaster, Highbury Fling, Transient, and Serendipty. The intermediate descent will finish in the Park on Aro St where fun and festivity will ensue.

Wainuiomata Trail Project Fundraiser - April TBC, Wainuiomata


The Wellington MTB Club is happy to announce the 2015 edition of the Wainui Enduro.

The event format will consist of an optional timed hill climb and three descents. Riders that complete the hill climb will be in contention for overall King/Queen of Wainui Trail Park for 2015. All proceeds from the event will be put towards completing the Super Plus descent from top of Wainui hill to Gracefield.

Trail Building Update


Over the coming months, there’s trail building activity in all the city’s main trail centres in addition to Wainuiomata and Porirua. Trail building and maintenance relies heavily on the support of volunteers. If you would like to contribute, keep an eye on Facebook for dig days scheduled in your area.


Volunteers needed for events

Events simply cannot run without the assistance of volunteer marshals and drivers. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. If you’re interested in helping out at any of the events mentioned above - please contact events@wmtbc.org.nz and we’ll put you in touch with the right people.
