On the weekend we had a lowkey shuttle day for some of the people who have been regular helpers at dig days. I put my helmet camera on a couple of them to record some runs. It was a bit of a bugger about the weather, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves in the mud.
Now's your chance to show off your creative flair. We are looking for designs for Wellington Mountain Bike Club Clothing.
The aim is to create a jersey design for the club that's both appealing and easily identifiable, particularly at race events. The design may also be transferrable to casual tshirts and hoodys.
The winning design will incorporate colours, shapes, symbols and imagery that you see best represents Wellington, WMTBC and its members.
Designs must include the club logo which you can take from our website, or if you would like to request high resolution artwork, you can email Vee:

The Wellington MTB Club will be hosting the NZ Downhill and 4X/Dual Slalom Championships on the weekend of the 26-28th of February.
Friday will see the first runs on the new track with downhill practice running from 9am till 12. Riders will be getting a feel of the new track which we have been hard at work designing and building. The new track features more airtime, and we have tried to increase the technical aspects of the track. Friday afternoon sees the 4X and Dual slalom over in MT Albert - Newtown. Riders will be practicing, then competing in both disciplines early in the afternoon, and into the evening. Plans are also afoot to show a MTB movie after the racing at the venue.
Saturday sees the riders move back to Long Gully, where practicing takes a step up. The morning will be spent with riders testing out lines, and getting more of a feel for the new aspects. The afternoon should see the pace pickup, with riders getting racelines sorted, and starting to ride at full speed.
Sunday is race day. Race runs will be starting around midday.
Come along and enjoy NZ's best riders tackling one of the best tracks in the country (honestly - we are not biased......) to try and gain the title of New Zealand champion.
Thanks to everyone for making the North Island Downhill Seris at Long Gully such a fantastic event. The track Jawbone proved popular for its first official event as a completed track, showcasing a new ladder drop, Rock Garden, Wallride and bridge jump.
The event managed to attract over 120 riders on each day from all corners of the North Island and was one of the best run events the club has put on to date. Thank again to all that helped in any way ,we couldnt have done it without your help.
The weather came together pretty good in the end which meant we got a good turn out of happy snappers on all sections of track. The final number of entries was around 160 photo's which can be seen Here.
After much deliberation Caleab managed to narrow his favouites down to this one by Andrew King.
Congratulations Andrew! nice work .

The Wellington MTB Club is hosting the first round of the NI Series run by AKDH. Entries forms will be available within the next week.
There will also be a Dual Slalom event run at our 4X track in Newtown. This is proudly sponsored by Bicycle in Lower Hutt. This will be held on the Saturday evening, after the DH practice.
We will also be running the ever popular Photo competition with a cash prize and hope to run a jump comp after racing while we are waiting for the times to be sorted, it’ll be free entry and we will see if we can find some sponsors to throw in a couple of prizes.
